Out of the Pool!

Part of Colorado summers is clearing the pool for the afternoon lightning warning. Entertaining ourselves why we wait for it to pass! #reguscisummer2018

The Agony of Defeat

Matteo's Diamondbacks suffered their first loss tonight. They're 1-1 now.  They were down 9 runs at one point, but came back to within 3.

Lexi wasn't impressed.

Cheesecakes, Circus Tents, and Decor

While Papa whips up four cheesecakes, Lynn and Tracy continue work on the sets for Chitty and Tracy decorates for the 4th of July. Tracy and Matt are hosting an adoption group for dinner tomorrow night, so might as well go all out!

The circled mark is actually 1/2 of the 48 ounces. Our cheesecake recipe.

Meanwhile, work continues on Chitty sets.

Lexi's Birthday

We celebrated Lexi's birthday with Sam, Nathan, and Chris present as well. We actually had two celebratory meals: one, our traditional breakfast chosen by the birthday girl or boy, and two, dinner at the club. All the photos are here.

Birthday dinner at the club.

This is how the day started.

For dessert at the club. Lexi's on top with three candles, Sam's to the right.

Pikes Peak

Sam, Nathan, and Chris are in town, so up Pikes Peak we went, by car (the cog railway is closed indefinitely). Close to the entire time it "graupeled" on the summit. Graupeling is something between snowing and hailing, according to the ranger. I asked if the railway shutdown caused an increase in the road access traffic. The answer was, "not really." I'm thinking the food/retail service at the summit is what's suffering if the railway attendance there is not being replaced by roadway traffic. All the photos are here.

That's graupel in Matteo's hair.

A marmot.

Territory Days

Territory Days is an annual event in Old Colorado City that draws upwards of 100,000 people over the Memorial Day weekend. And we thought we'd give it a go. Turned out to be a good idea. All kinds of entertainment, activities, and a plethora of food and retail vendors covered the 4 blocks of downtown. All the photos are here.

Fascinating "toboggan," a speeder for the cog railway.

There was a model railroad running in the Museum.
