Meanwhile, back at the Compound

Here's a few miscellaneous goings-on at the Compound while most of the boys were in Kansas...

She's a licensed driver today!

Dump cake; before we left for Kansas.

Nana sneaks in some school stuff every day.

A pumpkin! Lexi was beside herself.

Halloween decorations coming out!

Chiari surgery anniversary!

New do.

New do for Lexi, too.

We are in Kansas some more

Matt, Papa, Matteo, AJ, and David headed to Manhattan, KS (near Fort Riley) to visit Sam for the Labor Day weekend. Here are some miscellaneous photos from the trip. Other "major" happenings on the trip are documented in other posts.

One of our favorite pit stops: I-70 Diner in Flagler, CO.

Greating us at the Four Points Marriott in Manhattan, KS.

Always fun at Umi Steakhouse and Sushi.

He got 5 or 6 in a row, machine-gun style.

They learned about pool, and loved it.

Always fun at Little Apple Lanes

AJ and David were quite the team.

Unique technique. (It didn't work any better.)

KC's Renaissance Festival

The travelers to Kansas to visit Sam spent Sunday at the Kansas City Renaissance Festival in Bonner Springs. And Aunt Vickie joined us! We pretty much wore everyone out.

Fina's been painting pieces like this for K Dopita all summer.

Jousting!

Swords! We brought back a sword for everyone!

The place was called AJ's NY Pizzeria.

A few of Sam's buddies joined us at the Faire, too.

Flint Hills Discovery Center

On the Saturday of our trip to see Sam, we visited the Flint Hills Discovery Center in Manhattan, KS. We all had a good time, especially our Naturalist, AJ. The air-propelled rocket in the foyer turned out to be the favorite attraction.

Model railroad!

Really cool "4-D" theater.

We love museums that have scavenger hunts!

The old train station across the field from the Discovery Center.

The rocket launcher was a big hit!

AJ waits on the 3rd floor to recover the rocket.

That's the train station on the other side.
