Denver Museum of Nature & Science

We visited the Denver Museum of Nature & Science today while Nana attended an all-day quilting event. Seemed like a good option for a threatening-weather day and Sam's last full day here this trip. Almost got through all the museum, probably still 1-2 hours to go, mostly in the science areas. All the photos are here. Took us quite a bit longer than normal to get home. We were re-routed to highway 83 (must have been something bad on I-25) and then heavier snow the closer we got to home.

The bigs thought this virtual reality ride was pretty cool.

Quite a discussion ensued about what would happen if elephants had such tusks today.

Matt determined the mummy was just a little taller than Lexi.

The water "whirl wind" was very exciting.

There was practically no snow on anything when we arrived.

Fina's trying desperately to ignore it all.

They had some remarkable rhodochrosite specimens.

Quartz, too.

A Couple Restaurants

We tried Cowboy Star Steakhouse the other day. Wow. Fabulous meats. Exceptional service. And the atmosphere is right up our alley, too. And today we went back to the Bistro on Second in Monument, also becoming a favorite.

Bistro on Second. That was some grilled cheese
sandwich. And tuna tartar. And French Onion soup.

Fina / SOTU / Parenting

Tracy: Typical teen. Then I ask what are you watching? “State of the Union Address.” Then later on her phone again - what are you looking at? “Oh I was reading an article about Trump, taxes and the Democrats.” #makesense #idoublecheckedshereallywas #whenteensdonthavesnapchat #iamawesomeparent #probablynotduetomyparenting #dustingoffmynicedressforherpresidentialinauguration

USAFA Basketball and Thunder Tones

Fina's choir from school, the Thunder Tones, sang the national anthem to open the USAF Academy basketball game against the Colorado State University Rams. The Rams won. It was our first time in the Academy's Field House. There's a hockey arena, a basketball arena, and a track and field area. Lots packed in there. And like the football game, there was a considerable amount of fun stuff going on in addition to the game itself.

To the tunnel and into the arena.

Final warm-ups in the hallway.

The USAFA Falcons were going down the tunnel just ahead of the choir.
