Jesus Christ Superstar - 50th Anniversary Tour

Nana, Papa, and Antonio headed up to Denver to see "Jesus Christ Superstar - 50th Anniversary Tour" at the Buell Theatre. It did not disappoint! And the choreography was super, too. Tied the whole thing together! Some of the rest of the fam saw it the day before. We stopped at Scileppi's at the Old Stone Church in Castle Rock  on the way home. Good thing, too, as a corner of the church failed (during a remodeling project) shortly thereafter and they are now indefinitely closed. UPDATE: Scileppi's is back open as of 2/7/24.

Surprise Snow!

We woke up to an unexpected 4+ inches of snow this morning. 2-hour delay for school. Below are a few other items of interest recently...

Sunrise (a few days ago)

Tracy's graduation materials arrived!

Tracy's finally had a little time for puzzles...

The Airplane Restaurant

I've only noticed this place in the last few months since Matt's been using the Colorado Springs airport (COS) for most of his travel. Today I took Trevor to COS to finish his trip home from the east coast (overnight stop with us). And I stopped at The Airplane Restaurant for lunch on the way home. What a hoot! I sat in the plane, of course! This could become a habit... P.S. This Boeing KC-97 was built the year I was born!

Out the window at my table.

Yes, you can sit in the pilot seat.

Out the window at the table across the aisle from me.

The left wing extends into the "regular" dining area.

The "music" in the restrooms is of airplane engines.

Just east on Fountain Blvd from Powers Blvd (Hiway 21).

Top Chef Dinner

Trevor was in town just long enough to attend a Top Chef Dinner featuring Top Chef Chris Viaud from New Hampshire and Top Chef Brother Luck of Colorado Springs held at the Four by Brother Luck restaurant in downtown Colorado Springs. In addition to the great food and fascinating chat by the two chefs, there were some interesting wines, including two from Paso Robles, CA. One of those was a 2018 Halter Ranch Vineyard Estate Syrah. Halter Ranch is the home of the Halter Ranch Railroad which debuted at last year's Central Coast Railroad Festival (which Jamie chairs). How's that for a long distance connection?! L to R below: Trevor, Matteo, Chef Chris Viaud, Chef Brother Luck, and Lynn. Jamie was behind the camera (and arrived very late as he had a Wizard of Oz meeting).

Bible Baseball

Family Dinner included a round of Bible Baseball this evening! Nana and Papa played a lot of this as a kid, and turned out to be quite fun today, too. Check out the bonus topic of Bible Baseball on TorahTalks.info

Golfing

A ten-some went out to the links today for a couple evening hours of crazy Angry Birds golf at TopGolf.

Notice how her stance has dramatically improved?
Lessons from Greg.

Bowling

Nana and Papa took the four littles bowling this morning. Plus a trip to Chic-Fil-A for a playground visit and lunch!

She did that every time. Regardless.
That's the last you'll see her hair that long for a while.
She went to a hair salon for the first time for a cut
right after this outing.

Pikes Peak Cog Railway

Technically, it's called The Broadmoor Manitou and Pikes Peak Cog Railway. The point is, however, eight of us took the trip this afternoon and had a great time. From seeing Diamond Rock to a dozen or more bighorn sheep to the "Jungle Cruise"-like narration, it's quite a journey and the views from the top are amazing. The donuts are pretty good, too!

A very old section house at just over 12,000 feet.

That's the route as shown on a 3-D map at the Summit.

The sun was very strong.
