Day 233 Halloween

Jamie's Parlor Car Chat today was about Circus Trains with very special guest Kelly Ballagh, former RBB&B Circus Clown who lived on the Circus Train for seven years! The recording is here, the greatest chat on earth. The rest of the day was pretty much dedicated to Halloween. The weather was perfect and so was the Toy Story 4 family Tracy put together. Nana and Papa picked up a "flaming pumpkin" decoration for the front lawn. It just screamed "come get candy!" They had lunch at Ted's Montana Grill while they were over at the Halloween store - love the bison meatloaf. The Toy Story 4 family went trick-or-treating over with Hudson's family and friends in their area. Given the heft of their candy bags, it was a very successful evening.

Day 232

The painters wrapped up the job today. No more paper on the floor! And all the stashing of stuff elsewhere in the house is over. The whiter paint made everything so much brighter. Lynn wants to do their side now, too. There was much prep work going on for Halloween: testing a blow-up dinosaur outfit, painting all the army men clothes green, getting a red shirt for Sporky, and the like. The family is going as Toy Story 4. Got to test everything out at the Flying Horse Club this evening with their Trunk or Treat event. Quite a blast, actually, see the pics below. Jamie didn't make it to Trunk or Treat as he was out volunteering at the Flying Horse Foundation learning a new group game, Alligator (also see below).

Alligator. Each player gets one object of their choosing.
The group has to go from one side to the other without
"falling into the water" (touching the ground). There are
alligators about that can grab their objects if no one
is touching them. Took about 10 tries, but they got it!

Day 231

Lots of doctoring today. David had PT then Tracy was off to Denver with the baby for an appointment. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the painters were hard at it which explained why everyone was kinda crammed into Nana and Papa's area or up in the loft area. There was a fun outing to El Padrino for lunch with Nana and Papa, Fina, and David. Soon school pickup routines began including a Take Flight session. Fina's Improv Troupe had a show this evening, "Cheap Date Night, Pandemic Edition," which was streamed on Facebook live (recording, the shows starts at the 16:45 mark).  Jamie had a Zoom rehearsal for It's a Wonderful Life to end his day.

Day 230

The Utah party managed to squeeze in a couple more sites before heading home today. First up, Black Bear Diner (there are two in St. George) for breakfast, which was nicely decked out for Halloween. Then, probably the most amazing tourist attraction in all of Utah, the Bloomington Petroglyph Park (tongue planted firmly in cheek). Really, though, it was rather intriguing and to think it was saved on a 1/2-acre plot in the middle of a residential development. Sandy had an earlier flight, so we dropped her off at the airport and went back to town to visit the World Wildlife Museum (over 300 taxidermy animals from all over the world). It, too, was good for a short visit. We took one last shot at a fun place for a latte and maybe a munchy, and lucked out - George's Corner Restaurant! We were actually looking for a particular coffee shop, but literally parked in front of this place and decided to give it a whirl. Fun place, lots of history, and Jamie managed to quench both his thirst for booze and hunger for ice cream - Grandma's Float (a scoop of vanilla ice cream drenched in Grand Marnier in a martini glass). All the Utah photos are here.

Day 229

Back in Colorado, all three dogs got groomed today! As for the folks still in Utah, it was quilting and fabric day. After a brief stop at Feel Love Coffee, we hit three quilting shops: Scrap Apple Quilts, Quilted Works, and Clover Patch Quilt Shop. In between those we had a fun lunch at Chef Hog's Oyster Bar and Grill. And being the last evening of our trip, our fanciest dinner was at Aragosta Restaurant in downtown St. George. All the Utah trip photos are here.
