Teton Village Ski Summit

We visited the summit of the ski slopes at Teton Village today, by tram. This trip included a hike further up the mountain (for some) that included a bear spotting - about 10 feet away! It also included lunch at the Mangy Moose. That evening we all enjoyed a uniquely gourmet meal at The Kitchen in Jackson (just a couple blocks from the Cloudveil). The day's photos start here.

Taggart Lake

Today we did the Taggart Lake Trail in the Tetons. And on the way home we decided to check out why people were stopping at this one location. Moose! We batted the cycle: bear, elk, bison, and moose. Not necessarily in that order. The day's photos start here.

Yellowstone

We did "the loop" at Yellowstone. From Old Faithful and other geysers to the lodges to the falls to bison! The day's photos start here.

It was a very uneventful trip to Jackson. The first and only stop was for donuts in Rock Springs. And a few hours after that - Jackson! The Cloudveil is awesome (a Marriot Autograph Collection). All the day's photos start here.

Encampment, WY

Our last full day in the Saratoga, WY area took us to the Grand Encampment Museum about 20 miles south of Saratoga. Fascinating collections of a dozen or more buildings from the mining era all loaded with artifacts. We ventured to an Encampment River Wilderness trailhead and hiked for about 30 minutes when we stumbled onto a pelt on the trail and a fellow returning hiker told us of a fresh carcass in the river. We turned back. Some ice cream at SunnyCup (very kid friendly) in Saratoga soothed the soul as did lunch at the Hotel Wolf - finally! All the day's photos start here.

Lynn finally got her shot at driving a golf cart - on a golf course! Don't ask, we didn't keep score. We had a pretty good sandwich at Saratoga Sandwich Company. Next, we explored the Saratoga Museum which happened to be right across the street from the airport - which had an unusually large ratio of large private jets. Dinner at Bella's Bistro!
