Macbeth at Theatreworks

We saw "that Scottish play" under a tent this evening. Produced by the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs' (UCCS') Theatreworks, the venue was a tent on the Rock Ledge Ranch Historic Site right next to Garden of the Gods. This is the best theatre company we've found so far in the Springs, much like PCPA in Santa Maria, CA. We saw Amadeus at their ENT Center a few months ago, also exceptionally well done.

P.S. AJ auditioned with Theatreworks for A Christmas Carol this season - and got a call back! We'll see how that goes on September 8th.

A Rockies Game

Zach and Rebecca are in town, so let's go to a Rockies game! That was the plan, at least, an "all play" outing. But David got sick, Fina was crewing for Charlie Brown, so Nana and Lexi stayed back, too. That left three tickets unused - until we realized Zach had some cousins in town as well, a party of three. Providential. It was a first pro game for the boys, and the first time back in a ballpark for Papa in 40-ish years. Had a great time. Coors Field is really quite nice and very easy to get in and out. All the photos are here.

Getting there early for batting practice was genius. We didn't get one, but this gal did!

Safe!

Did you see that?!

Even as we were leaving, AJ made a new friend on the exit ramp.

Lexi's First Ballet/Tap Class

What a hoot! She's on her way. First ballet class at Colorado Ballet Society! All the photos are here.

Denver Union Station

Lynn and Jamie met up with Uncle Craig today at the Denver Union Station for lunch at Stoic & Genuine. The latter is quite the "fishy" place, and the food was great. They've got a unique way of pricing and building your meal. You pick one of the 15 or so "proteins" and then link it to the style you want. We went with tuna and king crab today, and we all did the avocado toast style. You've also got to try their granitas, basically shaved-ice cocktails. The gin-tarragon-cucumber version was great. It's a fun area to walk around. Be aware, parking is difficult and expensive. We should have done valet parking right in front and gotten validated at the restaurant, $12. As it was, $30. Live and learn.

Les Miserables

The four adults and two bigs headed off to the Denver Center for the Performing Arts (Buell Theatre) for a performance of Les Miserables by the national touring company. As you might imagine, it was fantastic! Lots of very cool theatre magic, not to mention fabulous performances across the board. Bravo! We started the evening downtown at Sam's No. 3, a very fun diner about a block from the theater with a very big menu. If you can't find something to enjoy there, it's your problem. We didn't happen to get any good pics of the place, but fortunately they have plenty of photos on their website. This was a "Happy Birthday, Matt" outing.

Strolling downtown.

Gabby Took Such Great Care of Us

Today was Gabby's last day at work here at the pool. We're gonna miss her. The kids are gonna miss here. AJ is really gonna miss her. Sorry, kiddo, she's already got a beau. She's off to her junior year at college. And we wish her the very best!
