Day 264

Day 2 of e-learning (this time around). Papa cooked spaghetti for dinner. We found a 2013 pinot noir in the cellar from Chene (Edna Valley, CA). Nana and Papa went there in 2017 and had a delightful time in the proprietor's home (they weren't fully set up yet). They're very well set up now, and you can stay the night in the 3500sf house! Can be an event venue as well. Here are pics from that day's wine tasting travels (Chene starts at pic #20). The pinot turned out to be quite good, despite pinot not being a family fave. In addition to schooling, Tracy and Lynn were shopping, prepping, and organizing the Christmas Packets going out to all TimberCreek Kids (pics on that tomorrow). And check out Jamie's little 30-second video that hit the Give! Campaign today.

Day 263

The theme of the day was "Back to Home for School." All the kids were on e-learning starting today and ostensibly through Christmas break. We'll see. <RANT>Have I mentioned how destructive all this shutdown business has been?  I can only trust that there will be justice eventually.</RANT> Once we got all the logins figured out, correct software installed, and the schedules understood, we were golden. The kids really seem to get it. I guess we'll see tomorrow how well we actually got it.

Highlight of the day!

Nana reads to Sandy.

Day 262

The boys in Kansas had breakfast at The Chef in Manhattan, KS. And boy did we eat well. Including Bananas Foster Pancakes (which is what Jamie had, of course)! We dropped Sam off at the base and then headed home. It was a straight through drive (mostly) and very windy. We listened to about half of Ready Player Two while on the road (both ways). We planned to have dinner at the I-70 Diner in Limon, except that it isn't in Limon. By the time we figured out it was in Flagler, we had sailed past it. So, dinner at Oscar's Bar and Grille (in Limon) which turned out to be fun anyway. Oscar's, as in Academy Awards. It was thematically decorated. And the food was pretty good, great fries. In the meantime, it was more Christmas decorating at home. All the Kansas photos are here.

Day 261

The boys in Kansas visited the Cosmosphere (Hutchinson, KS). Finally! Jamie's been wanting to get here ever since they got the Freedom 7 capsule (small beginnings in 1962, major upgrades in 2014). The boys spent five hours here today then stopped at Martinelli's Little Italy for dinner in Salina, KS. Meanwhile, back at the ranch, Christmas elf-work continues. All the Kansas photos are here.

Wait time for our elves - one week.

Hurricane force winds!

Fina finished her dress.
