Maybe Plan Ahead...

We've had an insane amount of road work being done starting last Spring. And with seemingly no rhyme or reason or evidence of a plan. We started betting ourselves if they'd wait to do the road in front of the school until the first week of school. Sure enough. David got to do horses today! While Matteo and Matt were boiling eggs, Papa prepared some steaks and a mushroom sauce. Today was Dennis Prager's Cigar Party in Minneapolis which one could attend by Zoom. Unfortunately, I waited too late to sign up. So, I had a cigar fireside and watched Dennis' 200th Fireside Chat.

Off to the ER...

It all started with Jonnie "falling asleep" in class. Turns out it was a little more serious than that, though we don't really know "for sure" (whatever that means with Jonnie). He and Tracy spent two nights in the hospital running all kinds of tests. Nothing confirmed, but they did send him home with some rescue meds. The rest of us managed to keep the home fires burning. And poor Tracy missed back-to-school for Fina and Matteo.

Considerably calmer around here without Nala.

Right in the middle of Moana!

Sushi!

We took Matteo out to lunch at Sushi Ato on his last day before school. The puzzle got interrupted by all the activity of the week, and I think even got put away before it was barely started. It'll be out again...

Repainting the House

The house gets repainted! Started this week. We're going from browns and tans to black and white (with a smidge of blue) for the stucco and wood. The rock remains the same, of course.

A Painting Theme

"Paint" a carbonate on a rock. Paint the house. Paint parking spaces.

Here's what the Popcorn Rocks from the Mining Museum have done over the last several weeks. It was a slow process. Matt remarked that the house looked like a Chutes and Ladders game with the painters jumping into the repainting project today. There were ladders everywhere, some of them reaching the 3rd floor. And what did Fina do most of the day while her siblings were in school?... She helped her senior friends paint their parking spaces at school.

Back to School

DCC Elementary and Middle School started today! So off we went on our traditional morning walk (that continues for some of us much of the year when the weather allows).

4th, 6th, 4th, 1st.

Mini-Golf

It was a back-to-school promise: yes, we can get another mini-golf session in before school starts. Surprisingly, this would be only our second mini-golf outing all summer. I really thought we'd be doing one every other week, at least. I guess to make up for the infrequency, we stumbled (literally) onto a course we had not been to before (in the process of trying to get to one we had been to before!). Gold Mine Mini Golf. What a hoot! We did courses 1 and 3. Suited this rock guy just fine! The boys thought it was the best ever, and the best hole ever was the one with a conveyor belt for your ball.

A sunflower next door!

We got 3 of these recently. Yum yum!

Lynn is underway with her labyrinth quilt.

Camarones Aguachiles at Vaqueros.
New. Very good! Spicy!

Best hole ever. See the conveyor belt on the right
hauling your ball (the blue dot) up and drop it into a trough
that leads right to the cup. Awesome!

Tracy finished the Liberty Puzzle
(very uniquely shaped pieces in wood).
