The timing of the sunrise this morning along with Matteo's van-stop for school worked out to make for some very pretty mountains. Big CostCo trip so, among other things, Matt gets to chop up the chunks into steaks. We got a Pear Valley Wine shipment today from California which included some of their more unusual wines (aglianico, charbono, barbera). This shipment included one we don't think we've ever encountered before, at least knowingly. The grape is Nero d'Avola (Black of Avola, a town in Sicily). It's in the lower right-hand corner of the wine grape chart, super heavyweight and very high acidity. Quite fruity, but heavy fruit, like plum, and a little spicy/peppery. A little sweetness, too. Very Italian, the most important red wine grape in Sicily, they say. Matt really liked it; actually we all did, but he was most enthusiastic. See bottle photo below. Then there was a little infected toe to care for. David got his new night-time leg casts. The day closed out with a baby bath, some puzzling, and AJ doing a chemistry kit experiment with a friend.
Oxygen levels - excellent. Across the board. Despite some minor cold symptoms persisting. The walk to school was below freezing this morning; barely, but still. David had his last set of leg casts removed today. He starts with some braces (night-time, I think) as soon as they're ready. We had first reading for It's a Wonderful Life tonight.

A 6am email told Jamie he was cast in It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play being produced by Village Arts (see the Theatre page). First rehearsal is tomorrow night - two days from auditions to first reading! Everyone went to school today. Matteo texted from school after getting on the bus home that he wanted to go back to the Basil & Barley place, so Matt and Jamie took him when he got to the bus stop. The sunset scene is a typical spot for Jamie these days: listening to Prager's Exodus lectures, enjoying the warmth of the fire in the cold evening air, and viewing the sunset.
Something of a weird day, or at least unusual (which is saying a lot for 2020). First, all the boys stayed home another day with minor cold symptoms. Out of nowhere, Tracy starts getting a "check coolant" warning in her car. So, Lynn and Jamie took it to the dealership (where it was taken care of on the spot) and afterward hit their favorite French place for an early lunch, La Baguette French Bistro. One of the champagnes they had used the word "creamy" in its description; had to try. And it was! Perrier-Jouet (Grand Brut). Jamie spent most of the afternoon prepping for an audition later that evening and doing some running around including taking Lexi to her tennis lesson. What a hoot that was! David got a doctor's appointment in and Fina was doing school most of day followed by an Improv rehearsal/meeting (in person).

Normal school day for Fina, online. The rest of the gang stayed home for minor cold symptoms. The Starbucks run this morning included a grocery stop for eggs and bread. What?! Tracy never runs out of staples like that. 2020. While at the grocery store, Lynn got a small roast on a whim and cooked it up for dinner along with some carrots, potatoes, and watermelon.

Turned out to be a cooler day with a great deal of wind. The moment the TimberCreek Kids folks got to the DCC Canyon it became clear that Sunday School was not going to happen out there. Fortunately, there was a backup plan - the auxiliary gym. And that worked very well. Breaking from many after-church lunch traditions, we went to the Club. Well, everyone went but the boys who weren't feeling well. While we were at church, Lexi built the play area for the baby (pictured at the bottom). Nana stayed home from church with most of the kids. Matteo's church youth group met at our house tonight.
