Day 123

Play time in Idaho is over; time to head home. We took a different route between Rock Springs and Idaho Falls, this time via I-15 and US 30. It was also scenic, more evenly scenic, and more civilization dots along the way. We went all the way to Rawlins, WY where we had a very fun meal at Buck's.

Largest menu ever.

There was so much stuff I didn't even notice the railroad stuff for quite a while.

Rawlins' train depot.

Tracy said it was definitely the hardest puzzle of COVID, and maybe all time.

Day 122

Well, we know one thing that went on at the Compound today... Fina got behind the wheel again! Meanwhile, Jamie and Lynn played in Idaho Falls all day. They visited the Friendship Garden, the River Walk, the Zoo, brunch at Smokin Fins, and dinner at Jalisco's. All the day's photos are here.

Day 121

Jamie and Lynn started their day exploring the southeast area of town and Jamie also ran the Railroad Museum's Parlor Car Chat very remotely and quite mobile today, too. They ended up at Smokin Fins for lunch.  Lynn had a Birkenstock Benedict, very good, and Jamie had Hangover Mac and Cheese, also very good. Then they went and checked out some camping and RV type sites and related activities way north near Ririe. Finally, dinner at Jaker's. Cap steak is the bomb. We understand the Reguscis hit the pool this evening.

Day 120

Jamie and Lynn headed out from Rock Springs, WY to Idaho Falls, ID. The first part of the trip north from Rock Springs on 191 is pretty much out in the middle of nowhere with not much to look at. But once you get past Pinedale, WY you're getting into Tetons country, much more interesting pretty much all the way to Idaho Falls.

Had to have before leaving Rock Springs.

Along Palisades Lake in the Targhee National Forest

SnakeBites in Idaho Falls. Quite good. Lynn had a wonderful shrimp pasta
dish and Jamie had a great burger with to-die-for fries with "fry sauce."

If only it indicated which railroad!

In the "old downtown" area.

Heavy traffic.

In Rigby, a small town just north of Idaho Falls.

TV-famous for some reason.

Dinner.

Driving in to Idaho Falls on 26.

Meanwhile, pool time back at the ranch.

Day 119

After some packing and a quick doctor's appointment, Lynn and Jamie headed out for Idaho on a little boondoggle. They made it as far as Rock Springs, WY for today. Found a fun restaurant out at a golf course, Eve's.

Strawberry sherbet between two brown sugar cookie layers
with chocolate drizzle, powdered sugar, ad a fresh strawberry on top.

Back at the ranch, they're trying out the Sasquatch Cookies coconut creation.

Day 118

We must have been quite busy today, few times we thought to take pics. Ballet and water camp, of course. Matt and Jonny are winging their way home today (they made it AOK). Jamie had an all day science teaching conference (online, of course). He also provided tech support for an afternoon webinar of the California Short Line Railroad Association. He was also ready to go with his Creation study in the evening, but alas no one showed up. Tracy, Lynn, and Fina visited the DCC Canyon in order to plan/prep for TimberCreek Church re-opening on July 19th! Fina finished up the day with a little gathering of her friends here for chatting, basketball, and marshmallow roasting.

Another Fina creation.

Day 117

Another very busy day. First, the big and good news. Jonny had his MRI done and had a visit with Dr. Grant. All is good! See you in a year. Fina went to Ballet all morning. She and Papa picked up Chick-Fil-A for lunch on the way home. After lunch, Papa took Fina for her first behind-the-wheel driving experience. And we all survived, car included! AJ went to Water Camp all day at Catamount, which he's loving. Jamie had a good test run with the California Short Line Railroad Association for their online meeting tomorrow. And yet another afternoon thunderstorm. Tracy whipped up fried eggs and sausage for dinner; big hit. Jamie also put the finishing touches on his Creation class for tomorrow night. The Harry Potter puzzle has been quite challenging. It doesn't help that many of the pieces blend in with the counter top. We watched Desperados (a Fina selection).

The news from Stanford was all good.

This one's a toughy.
