Truth, Justice, and the American Way

We started a new series in our Family Dinner lessons tonight: Truth, Justice, and the American Way. And we started with Truth. Coincidentally, Pastor Patrick started a new series the next morning at TimberCreek Church and his introduction to the series focused almost entirely on... Truth!

Nana and Antonio made Apple Pie!

The next morning at church: Truth

Earlier in the day... Jamie's winter Happy Place.

Flying Horse Lodge - East

On a whim, Nana and Papa stayed at the Flying Horse Lodge last night. They stayed in the new East side. When they woke up this morning, there was barely any snow on the ground and you could hardly see that it was snowing. By the time we left late morning, the car had 4-5" on it. And by afternoon we had received about 10" of snow!

Our view Friday night.

French Onion Soup and Seafood Cocktail!

We got about 10" today!

Matteo, Jonny, and Matt shoveling A LOT of snow.
Several other family members were shoveling at other times.

Tracy Regusci, RN, BSN

Our very own Tracy Regusci officially became a Registered Nurse (RN) this afternoon after passing her NCLEX exam this morning! We celebrated a bit when the kids got home from school with Nothing Bundt Cakes! You can see below that Jonathan made his own version... Congratulations, Tracy!

Jesus Christ Superstar - 50th Anniversary Tour

Nana, Papa, and Antonio headed up to Denver to see "Jesus Christ Superstar - 50th Anniversary Tour" at the Buell Theatre. It did not disappoint! And the choreography was super, too. Tied the whole thing together! Some of the rest of the fam saw it the day before. We stopped at Scileppi's at the Old Stone Church in Castle Rock  on the way home. Good thing, too, as a corner of the church failed (during a remodeling project) shortly thereafter and they are now indefinitely closed. UPDATE: Scileppi's is back open as of 2/7/24.

Surprise Snow!

We woke up to an unexpected 4+ inches of snow this morning. 2-hour delay for school. Below are a few other items of interest recently...

The Airplane Restaurant

I've only noticed this place in the last few months since Matt's been using the Colorado Springs airport (COS) for most of his travel. Today I took Trevor to COS to finish his trip home from the east coast (overnight stop with us). And I stopped at The Airplane Restaurant for lunch on the way home. What a hoot! I sat in the plane, of course! This could become a habit... P.S. This Boeing KC-97 was built the year I was born!

Out the window at my table.

Yes, you can sit in the pilot seat.

Out the window at the table across the aisle from me.

The left wing extends into the "regular" dining area.

The "music" in the restrooms is of airplane engines.

Just east on Fountain Blvd from Powers Blvd (Hiway 21).

Top Chef Dinner

Trevor was in town just long enough to attend a Top Chef Dinner featuring Top Chef Chris Viaud from New Hampshire and Top Chef Brother Luck of Colorado Springs held at the Four by Brother Luck restaurant in downtown Colorado Springs. In addition to the great food and fascinating chat by the two chefs, there were some interesting wines, including two from Paso Robles, CA. One of those was a 2018 Halter Ranch Vineyard Estate Syrah. Halter Ranch is the home of the Halter Ranch Railroad which debuted at last year's Central Coast Railroad Festival (which Jamie chairs). How's that for a long distance connection?! L to R below: Trevor, Matteo, Chef Chris Viaud, Chef Brother Luck, and Lynn. Jamie was behind the camera (and arrived very late as he had a Wizard of Oz meeting).
